Sirey Lab

We develop, test and implement evidence-based psychosocial interventions to improve the mental health of middle-aged and older adults. Our research is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health as well as community partners, such as, the New York City Department of Aging. Our research is built upon academic-community collaborations. We collaborate closely with providers, older adults, community leaders and policy makers to increase access to mental health interventions and reduce mental health disparities in the community.

Aging is a dynamic and complex process that requires continuous adaptations and changing needs and life circumstances. We focus on the development of streamlined personalized psychotherapies for mid- and late-life depression, anxiety, substance use, and other emotional difficulties. Our interventions are delivered in-person at senior centers as well as remotely over telephone and video.

Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength.
