We develop, test and implement evidence-based psychosocial interventions to improve the mental health of middle-aged and older adults. Our research is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health as well as community partners, such as, the New York City Department of Aging. We collaborate closely with providers, older adults, community leaders and policy makers to increase access to mental health interventions and reduce mental health disparities in the community.
Aging is a dynamic and complex process that requires continuous adaptations and changing needs and life circumstances. We focus on the development of streamlined personalized psychotherapies for mid- and late-life depression, anxiety, substance use, and other emotional difficulties. Our interventions are delivered in-person at senior centers as well as remotely over telephone and video.
Sirey Lab strives to develop and implement evidence-based psychotherapy solutions to improve the mental health of mid to later life older adults in the community.
