Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Research Assistant to join the Sirey Lab to work in programs carried out in New York City.

This role involves assisting in the coordination and implementation of NIMH-funded research studies of depression treatment among older adults in community-based settings. Position activities include recruitment, clinical assessment, scheduling, and tracking of all participants, as well as management of data collection and overall documentation of project. 

Position Activities

  • Screens and recruits potential study subjects virtually and in the community.
  • Performs structured clinical and research assessments with measures on depression severity, suicidal ideation, cognitive functioning, etc.
  • Tracks patients over time for follow-up assessments.
  • Assists in the creation of study databases, data cleaning, quality control, and dataset preparation.
  • Maintains records of study data and assists in data entry.
  • Attends team meetings to gather and present information.
  • Assists in the preparation of materials, submissions, and renewals to the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Prepares results and interpret findings with opportunities for authorship on conference manuscripts and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

Minimum Requirements

*Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Machine Learning, or a related field

*Transportation required for local travel

Highly Desired

*Prior research experience and experience with clinical populations

*Spanish speaking

Skills and Abilities

*Superior interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

*Familiarity with software including MS Word, Endnote, and SPSS, SAS, R Studio, a plus.
